Doug leads the ICS Collection Management and Technology departments and develops and maintains relationships with the larger Museum and Gallery community in Australia and New Zealand.
Doug developed an interest in Museum Collection Management while working as a Botanist at Auckland Museum. He has more than a decade of experience working for major museums, including with the natural history collections at Auckland Museum, and as a Collection Manager for Canterbury Museum. He has proven experience in collections handling and relocation, developing museum exhibitions and displays, and in managing and running security for museum environments.
Doug specialises in all areas of collection management and collection security, and has extensive IT management experience, with expertise in the application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for the security and management of cultural collections.
Doug has managed and undertaken a range of conservation projects at ICS, particularly in public and outdoor art.
