Our team offers comprehensive conservation treatments for murals, encompassing a range of specialised techniques to ensure their long-term preservation and continued visual impact.

Using methodologies tailored to each unique mural, we address common issues such as flaking paint, fading and graffiti. We specialise in providing more complex services such as revealing murals from beneath many layers of overpaint, and the relocation of murals to new locations.

Surface cleaning: Cleaning is the first fundamental step in the conservation process. We delicately remove the dirt, grime and pollutants that have accumulated over time, with the goal of revealing the original colours and details. Where there is surface damage, our conservators undertake re-touching to restore the integrity of the artwork.

Graffiti: Vandalism such as graffiti poses a significant threat to the preservation of murals. Our specialists employ effective graffiti removal techniques that prioritise the preservation of the original artwork. This sometimes includes the application of anti-graffiti coatings.

Light damage: Sun and UV light can impact the longevity of murals, causing fading and deterioration. We advise on how to minimise the effects of light damage, and offer solutions such as UV-protective coatings and strategic placement to shield the mural from harmful UV rays while still allowing for public enjoyment.

We can provide a rough guide to the potential cost when you send us detailed photographs. However, as every item is different, and treatments depend on the materials and type and extent of damage or deterioration, we do need to see the piece physically to provide you with an accurate estimate for treatment.
