Shrief joined ICS in 2022 as Objects Conservator with the Objects and Outdoor Heritage team, bringing more than 10 years of experience in the conservation of cultural heritage as a conservator, a lecturer, researcher, and consultant for conservation culture heritage projects.

His areas of specialisation include stonemasonry and wall painting, plaster, ironwork, mosaic, and traditional porous building materials.  He is also skilled in digital documentation, handling, conservation hand skills, moulding, investigation, analysis, physicochemical characterisation measurements, and application of nanotechnology in conservation. 

Shrief previously worked as a university lecturer in conservation science at Fayoum University in Egypt.  He has also worked as a consultant for several conservation projects of historical Cairo.
