The Fairies Tree, Fitzroy Gardens

Overview

The Fairies Tree in Fitzroy Gardens was carved and painted in 1931-34 on a dead River Red Gum tree. The tree is covered with carvings of fairies, dwarfs, gnomes, and a variety of Australian animals and birds.

In the late 70’s the tree was removed from the ground, rotted wood was removed and then mounted on a concrete base.
