He brings his enthusiasm, skills and expertise to the paintings conservation team of ICS, which he joined in 2007. In 2012 he was appointed as Senior Paintings Conservator and Team Leader.
Matteo attained a Diploma of Fine Arts and a Master of Painting Conservation at Accademia di Belle Arti, Aldo Galli in Como, Italy, where he trained in the conservation of a broad range of painted surfaces. He is skilled in the conservation of decorative painting on wood, such as wooden ceilings, and has worked on many such projects while at ICS. Since joining ICS, Matteo has continued to develop his analytical skills and continues to enrich his knowledge by participating in conferences and workshops such as New Methods of Cleaning Painted Surfaces held at Museums Victoria in 2018, and a Modern Resin for Varnishes and Retouching Workshop held at SRAL Maastricht in the Netherlands in 2016.
