This is a full-time, hands-on role requiring framing experience, practical project administration skills, confidence using workshop tools, care and attention to detail, and enthusiasm for supporting lab maintenance and site-based projects.
International Conservation Services (ICS) is Australia’s largest private conservation practice. We conserve a wide range of cultural and heritage objects and artefacts including paintings, furniture, textiles, paper, sculpture, archaeological artefacts and wall finishes in buildings.
We are seeking a highly organised Conservation Technician & Framer to provide framing, hands-on conservation assistance and technical support. Based at our labs in Chatswood, Sydney, this role is suitable for someone with a passion for heritage or the arts who has both practical and administration skills.
Role
Reporting to the Senior Conservation Framer, the Conservation Technician & Framer provides conservation framing and technical support for a wide range of conservation projects at ICS labs and on site. Framing and reframing of artworks are major components of the role, along with contributing to technical problem-solving and providing hands on assistance. They will work closely with conservators in the Fine & Decorative Arts Division to support both conservation treatments and ancillary functions such as photo-documentation, purchasing, research, art handling and transport.
This is a challenging role that requires excellent time management, and great admin and communication skills.
