Sergio joined ICS in September 2019. He is a Spanish Objects Conservator, trained in Florence at the Palazzo Spinelli Institute of Art and Restoration, and specialising in Ceramics, Stone and Archaeological materials.
From 1999 – 2003 Sergio worked in Italy in private conservation and academic institutions. From 2003 – 2011 Sergio worked at Graciela Ainsworth Sculpture Conservation in Edinburgh, followed by brief stints as a private conservator working for Other People Sculpture, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and numerous London galleries and museums.
From 2014-2019, Sergio worked for Taylor Pearce, conserving objects in a wide range of mediums – stone, metals, plaster, plastic, wood, ceramics, terracotta, clay and wax. In addition to conservation work, Sergio has managed the design and execution of mounts, casting and reproduction of marble sculptures, large-scale displays for major exhibitions, and relocation of large sculptures.
