Nicola joined ICS in November 2019 and manages the Objects and Outdoor Heritage team. Her areas of specialization and special interest include stonemasonry and historical ironwork, terracotta and faience and traditional porous building materials.
Nicola who wrote the widely acclaimed ‘Practical Building Conservation’ series of books, has been responsible for research programmes and workshops in the UK. She also ran her own consulting practice prior to joining ICS.
Nicola has worked on projects such as the Hyde Park Barracks West Wall; Dawes Point Heritage Railings; Smoky Point Lighthouse Keepers Cottages; Mosaic paving from the Newcastle Co-op.
Nicola holds affiliations and membership to the Institute of Historic Buildings Conservation (IHBC) (UK); the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) (UK); the Association for the Study of Conservation of Historic Buildings (ASCHB) (UK); Australia ICOMOS and the Building Limes Forum (Australia and UK).
