We are seeking a highly organised Collections & Technology Coordinator to join our Museum & Gallery Services Team, based at our labs in Chatswood, Sydney. Use your hands-on IT experience and collection management skills in a wide variety of heritage and art projects. Salary commensurate with experience in the range of $62,808 - $78,672 plus 9.5% superannuation. This part-time position (2-3 days/week) is available for commencement in May 2021, with prospects of moving to a full-time role in due course.
International Conservation Services (ICS) is Australia’s largest private conservation and collections management company. We conserve and manage a wide range of cultural and heritage objects and artefacts including paintings, furniture, textiles, paper, sculpture, archaeological artefacts and wall finishes in buildings.
This role requires a combination of hands-on technical skills and project management of collections and heritage projects. It may suit applicants with transferable skills from other related professions.
The main responsibilities are to provide technical and administrative support for a wide range of collections management, technology, and conservation projects. The role has two main focus areas.
The first area is servicing existing collection technology projects (hardware and software), collection management projects, and supporting the establishment of new projects. The role includes providing on-site installation assistance and ensuring that technical information, user guides and related data are kept accurate, up to date and available when required.
The second area relates to the implementation of heritage conservation projects, including support for conducting collection surveys (documenting and condition reporting), tender and proposal preparation, and basic artwork maintenance. Ancillary functions such as photo-documentation, research, and administrative support may also be required.
